Lucia Sarto was born in the province of Udine,
Italy in 1950. She was barely eleven years old
when she was awarded First Prize in a regional
school's painting contest in Trieste.
Sarto
studied art in Venice and Turin where the works
of Southern Romantic painters such as De Nittis,
Palizzi and Giganti have greatly influenced her
work. American impressionist Sargent was also an
influence. But it was under the tutelage of well
known artist V. Guidi that Sarto developed her
own style.
Sarto's paintings are expressions
of fresh and spontaneous images. Her subtle
painting technique is characterized by lightenes
shades of green and blue. She has assimilated the
poetic yet sober colours of the Ancient Venetian
Masters. These are all evident in Sarto's choice
of hues and lightness of strokes.
Lucia
Sarto's artwork has been exhibited in the
Municipal Museum of Foggia. Early in her career,
she was awarded "Paintress of the Year" by the
City of Como, Italy.
Sarto's
artwork can be found in various public and
private collections in New York, Munich, Tokyo,
Vienna, Frankfurt, London and Portofino.
