Biography

"I’m very disciplined, and feel fortunate to be able to work on my art 7 days a week. When I’m working, I’m fully immersed and focused. It’s easy for me to lose myself in my work. I’m always drawn to calm places. I love color and I’m very exact and meticulous."

- Maura Segal

Maura Segal is a Los Angeles based artist whose inspiration is drawn from modern architecture and minimalism. In her work, Segal juxtaposes layers of paper with acrylic paint and a layer of thinly hand-cut paper strips insinuating the volume of three-dimensional sculptures. Maura explores the contrast between negative and positive, the counterpoint between lines and shapes and the coexistence of two and three dimensional planes.
